Casablanca – The fifth edition of Morocco With Purpose officially opened on Tuesday with a gala at the historic Chellah archaeological site in Rabat, bringing together government officials, institutions, business leaders, invited guests, and content creators.
The event marked five years since the launch of the initiative. Organizers described it as a space that connects Moroccans from around the world while encouraging them to contribute to the country’s future through investment, collaboration, and new projects.
Omar El Aidi, co-founder of Morocco With Purpose and the Jalya Day project, said the event reflects five years of work and commitment to supporting Moroccans living abroad. Speaking at the opening, he said the initiative aims to help members of the diaspora give back to Morocco by investing and creating opportunities in the country.
El Aidi, who grew up in Canada, said he believes Morocco is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for Moroccans abroad. “There’s no more American dream. Right now it’s the Moroccan dream,” he said, adding that more members of the diaspora are returning to invest and build projects at home.
Among the guests was Adam Amellal, who said he was attending the event for the third time. Representing the Saudi Group Investment and traveling from Geneva, he thanked organizer Hiba El Aidi and the Ministry of Youth for the invitation.
Amellal said the experience strengthened his connection to Morocco and encouraged him to pursue future business opportunities in the country.
“Morocco is the place to be,” he said. “I hope in the future that I will come and definitely build something on the business side in Morocco,” he continued, adding that he now feels “more Moroccan than ever.”
