Agadir – The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has introduced a new generation of smart patrol vehicles in Casablanca, equipped with artificial intelligence, advanced surveillance systems, and real-time identification technologies.
Named “Amane” and “Madar,” the two patrol units entered service on Saturday as part of the DGSN’s efforts to modernize security operations and strengthen the capabilities of field officers through connected technologies.
The new vehicles are designed to support a wide range of missions, including urban patrols, proximity security, event monitoring, crowd management, smart city operations, and the protection of critical infrastructure.
Amane: an AI-powered security patrol
The “Amane” patrol vehicle integrates a comprehensive technological system built around artificial intelligence, real-time reconnaissance, and extended operational autonomy.
The vehicle is equipped with a 360-degree autonomous surveillance system featuring 11 customized cameras with optical zoom capabilities. The setup includes roof-mounted cameras positioned to provide full-angle coverage, along with a panoramic camera capable of completing a full rotation in three seconds and zooming up to 40 meters.
Amane also includes three Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras designed to automatically identify Moroccan vehicle registration plates, with an accuracy rate of 90%, increasing to 95% in operational conditions.
An internal camera equipped with facial recognition technology allows the system to identify the driver and assistant, adding an additional layer of security within the vehicle.
The patrol vehicle is also connected to internal security networks, enabling officers to verify the identity of individuals or vehicles in real time through direct access to central databases. Detected events are automatically associated with precise geolocation data, whether involving a vehicle plate or an identified person.
The vehicle offers up to 16 hours of continuous operational autonomy and is intended for deployment across several security scenarios, including urban surveillance, public events, smart city management, and critical infrastructure protection.
Madar: a mobile 360-degree surveillance platform
The “Madar” patrol transforms a standard vehicle into a connected mobile surveillance platform equipped with the same artificial intelligence system used by Amane.
The vehicle relies on a 360-degree vision system capable of monitoring surrounding areas and identifying individuals and vehicles in real time.
Its specially designed and 3D-printed flashing beacon integrates high-resolution cameras capable of capturing fast-moving images without distortion. The system can simultaneously monitor up to six traffic lanes, with three cameras installed on each section of the beacon and a central 360-degree camera ensuring complete coverage.
The cameras are equipped with license plate recognition and pedestrian identification technologies, allowing Madar to support security teams during patrols and operational interventions.
