Yassir Zabiri is set to leave Rennes after just six months with the French club. The 20-year-old is now close to moving to Spanish side Racing Santander on loan, with the transfer expected to be completed very soon.
According to Foot Mercato, Zabiri has agreed to join Racing Santander on loan. Only a few details remain to be sorted out.
Zabiri struggled to get playing time in France, especially after Rennes changed managers mid-season, replacing Habib Beye with Franck Haise.
The young forward wants to play regularly to keep improving. Moving to Spain gives him the best chance to get more regular match time on the pitch.
Zabiri joined Rennes in January for €10 million after scoring 7 goals for Famalicao in Portugal. However, he struggled for playing time in France, managing just 42 minutes across six matches without scoring.
A difficult period for the 20-year-old, who had recently marked a great performance at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
He finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 5 goals, including both goals in the 2-0 final victory against Argentina.
This loan move to Racing Santander gives the Moroccan forward a chance to regain his goal-scoring form and prove his value to Rennes.
