Casablanca – Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has once again played down speculation linking him with the FIFA presidency, insisting he remains fully committed to the French champions.
Speaking after PSG’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup yesterday, Al-Khelaifi was asked whether he was interested in succeeding FIFA PresidentGianni Infantino, who has come under increasing scrutiny following recent governance controversies at FIFA.
The Qatari executive dismissed the rumours with a brief but firm response.
“I am very, very happy to be the president of Paris Saint-Germain, and I am happy to continue,” Al-Khelaifi said.
His comments come at a time when his name has been repeatedly mentioned as a potential candidate for the FIFA presidential election scheduled for March 2027.
Earlier, Al-Khelaifi held informal talks with UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin in Salzburg ahead of the Super Cup clash.
According to French outlet RMC Sport, the discussions included the ongoing situation at FIFA following the backlash surrounding Infantino, as well as preparations for the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup.
Despite growing speculation, RMC Sport reports that Al-Khelaifi has shown no intention of entering the race to lead world football, maintaining the same position previously communicated by those close to him.
The latest developments come amid continued uncertainty at FIFA after the collapse of the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project, which triggered criticism from several football confederations and intensified questions over Infantino’s leadership.
For now, however, Al-Khelaifi appears focused on Paris Saint-Germain, with the club adding another European trophy to its collection rather than entertaining any immediate ambitions beyond the Parc des Princes.
