Casablanca – Morocco’s National Security Directorate (DGSN) announced 12 new appointments to senior positions within its decentralized services in several cities today.
The appointments cover police services in Oujda, Kenitra, Fez, Imouzzer Kandar, Tetouan, Tangier, Ait Melloul, Inezgane, Ouarzazate, Jorf El Melha and Mechra Bel Ksiri, according to the Moroccan newspaper Assabah.
DGSN Director General Abdellatif Hammouchi approved the appointments, which include four new heads of security districts and police stations in Ait Melloul, Inezgane, Mechra Bel Ksiri and Jorf El Melha.
The changes also include new heads for the provincial police social services in Ouarzazate and Tetouan.
Other appointments concern several specialized and decentralized police services. The DGSN appointed a new head for the special police station at Saniat R’mel Airport in Tetouan, another official to lead the land border crossing in Oujda, and a new head for the canine police unit at Tangier City Port.
Three uniformed police officers also received appointments to senior positions in Fez, Imouzzer Kandar and Kenitra.
The DGSN said the appointments form part of an ongoing internal process focused on bringing new personnel into positions of responsibility and making use of young and experienced police officers.
The directorate said the move also aims to improve the performance of its police workforce by allowing officers to rotate through positions of responsibility and assigning field management roles to officers with the required training and qualifications.
The new officials will take responsibility for police services in their respective areas, including local security districts, police stations, border facilities and specialized units.
The DGSN said the appointments support the implementation of its work plans related to public security and the protection of citizens and their property.
