Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Industry signed new agreements with global companies in the aerospace sector as part of the Marrakech Airshow 2026.
On Thursday, the ministry signed a memorandum of understanding with APS Coating for a project involving an €18 million investment. The project, which is a facility for treating aircraft spare parts, is expected to create 120 direct jobs.
The ministry signed another memorandum of understanding with MATIS to expand its industrial facility that specializes in manufacturing electrical wiring for aircraft, with an investment of $16.457 million. The project aims to create 740 direct jobs.
The ministry, as well as Mecapole Aviation and Defense, also signed an agreement to develop capabilities in machining spare parts for aircraft and helicopters, with an investment of €10 million to create 80 direct jobs.
Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour said the agreements are part of King Mohammed VI’s vision to strengthen the aerospace system, particularly in aircraft assembly and aerostructures.
The minister said the projects would help advance the sector and strengthen national skills, stating that the agreements also cover innovation through partnerships with leading players. The aim is to develop new technologies, benefiting from advanced international expertise.
For Mezzour, the partnerships extend to manufacturing and aerostructures, describing this development as a strong indicator of efforts to strengthen industrial sovereignty and a demonstration of the progress of Moroccan innovation.
Morocco has stressed that the country’s goal is to shift from being a buyer to a sovereign manufacturer.
The aerospace sector employs around 25,000 skilled workers, recording annual growth of over 10%.
The Marrakech Airshow opening also marked the signing of several other agreements with international giants, including Lockheed Martin, Safran, Airbus, and Boeing.
The industry giants signed a partnership with Morocco’s OCP, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), the Technical Center for Mechanical Industries, and the ACME platform to establish the African Manufacturing Excellence Center to advance research and development in Morocco’s aviation and industrial sectors.
