Rabat – Morocco has reportedly hosted training of up to 500 Moroccan personnel in preparation for their mobilization as part of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza.
The Times of Israel quoted an official from the Board of Peace, stating that the training took place in Morocco, starting in August.
The training involved an initial group of officers and instructors, with the training conducted by the US-led ISF. The force is a UN-mandated multinational peacekeeping and stabilization force established to support the Gaza peace plan.
Morocco, among other countries like Albania, Kazakhstan, and Kosovo, agreed to contribute troops.
In July, Morocco signed an agreement governing its participation in the ISF, with the deal providing the legal framework regulating the technical and operational aspects of the country’s participation.
Morocco’s planned contribution includes the deployment of senior armed forces officers to the ISF Joint Command, personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), as well as the establishment of a military field hospital.
Morocco also reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to promoting peace and security in the Middle East, citing its extensive experience in UN peacekeeping operations and its sustained regional and international efforts to advance peace and stability.
Upon the signing ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita said the agreement reflects King Mohammed VI’s commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East and his continued support for the Palestinian people.
Bourita said the royal vision has always been consistent.
Morocco is a founding member of the Board of Peace, established at a Washington summit chaired by US President Donald Trump in January.
