Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced on Monday that the number of police officers who benefited from promotions during the fiscal year 2023 exceeded 7,500, including 280 women.

In addition, DGSN’s data indicated that the percentage of the beneficiaries for this year was around 66.02% of the total number registered on the promotion lists.

According to the report, this is an unprecedented percentage compared to the past three years, when it ranged between 42-43%.

The same source added that there were over 4,800 uniformed police officers and over 2,700 plainclothes officers among the recipients this year.

With 4,400 beneficiaries in ranks ranging from “lieutenant colonel” to “security officer,” the report revealed that the DGSN has given particular attention to personnel in junior and medium grades.

However, among the plainclothes police, 1,887 individuals were promoted to the same categories, ranging from “excellent inspector” to “excellent police officer.”

To evaluate the employees’ productivity and annual rating, the source indicated that the promotion committees’ deliberations relied on an integrated charter.

Promotion standards mainly depend on professional competence, merit, productivity, seniority, as well as the professional path and discipline of the employees registered on the promotion lists.

Because the DGSN is at the forefront of career promotion systems, the report concluded that the organization places a high value on promotion and its yearly regularity.

Career advancement is also considered one of the most important administrative incentives that motivate employees to make more sacrifices in the performance of their noble duties, which is reflected in the maintenance of citizens’ safety, the security of their property, and the improvement of police services provided to them.
