Casablanca — Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi in Amman on Tuesday for talks focused on bilateral relations and regional developments.

The meeting centered on ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between Morocco and Jordan, with both sides discussing steps to further expand collaboration in different sectors and explore new areas of partnership.

A key part of the talks focused on preparations for the sixth session of the Moroccan-Jordanian Joint High Commission, which is scheduled to take place before the end of the year. Bourita and Safadi reviewed arrangements for the meeting and stressed the need for thorough preparation to help advance cooperation and support the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The ministers also welcomed the positive momentum in relations between Rabat and Amman. Morocco and Jordan maintain longstanding ties that have developed into a multidimensional strategic partnership under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and King Abdullah II.

Regional issues were also on the agenda. The two officials exchanged views on developments in the region and discussed the importance of continued consultation and coordination on matters of common interest with the aim of supporting stability, security, and development.

The talks were attended by Morocco’s Ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif, Morocco’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Aït Ouali, and Director of Maghreb, Arab and Islamic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khalid Bencheikh.

Earlier in the day, Bourita also held talks with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. The two ministers discussed regional security and stability, Arab cooperation, and reviewed relations between Morocco and Bahrain, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

On Monday, Bourita took part in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers and the resumed proceedings of the 165th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level in Amman.
