Rabat – Morocco head coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, said his team is focused on going as far as possible in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating the Netherlands in the Round of 32.

The Atlas Lions secured their place in the Round of 16 by beating the Dutch 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. They will now face Canada for a place in the quarterfinals.

Speaking after the match, Ouahbi commended his players for staying calm during a difficult game.

“It was a tough match against a good team, but we controlled the game,” he said. “They defended deep, and we took our time to build our attacks. We knew we would score.”

Ouahbi stressed that Morocco’s mission is not over.

“Now we have to recover because we are not here just to beat the Netherlands,” he said. “We came here to go as far as possible.”

The Morocco coach revealed the message he gave his players during the match to keep them motivated.

“I told the players that 44 million Moroccans would go to work without sleep,” he said. “So if you feel tired, you have no reason to complain. We must play for the Moroccan people.”

Ouahbi ended by urging his squad to stay focused for the challenges ahead.

“Our journey is not over,” he said. “We must stay humble and continue believing in ourselves.”

Morocco will take on Canada in the round of 16 as they continue their historic World Cup campaign.
