Meknes – French-Moroccan Salahdine Parnasse has officially signed with the UFC, stepping straight into a high-stakes headlining clash against lightweight veteran Dan Hooker for his promotional debut.
The highly anticipated showdown will take place on September 5 at the Accor Arena in Paris, France. Serving as the headliner for UFC Fight Night 287, the five-round bout marks the promotion’s return to the French capital.
Stepping straight into a main-event slot for a UFC debut is extremely rare. The move shows the promotion’s immense trust in Parnasse’s abilities, as well as his massive market appeal across France and Europe.
Following the announcement, Parnasse took to social media to share his excitement about joining the promotion.
“Today, I am taking the biggest step of my career: I will now be fighting in the UFC, and I will do so for the first time in a main event in Paris on September 5,” Parnasse said.
Reflecting on his roots and the journey that brought him to the UFC, the fighter stressed the pride he feels in representing his heritage.
“I am proud to represent France, Morocco, and Guadeloupe on the biggest stage in this sport. I didn’t get here alone. Thank you to everyone who has been following me since the beginning,” the fighter added.
The 28-year-old former KSW champion enters the Octagon with a stellar 23-2 professional record. In contrast, Hooker brings a 24-14 record alongside over a decade of battle-tested experience fighting elite contenders in the world’s premier MMA organization.
While Parnasse will have the home crowd firmly behind him, he faces unprecedented pressure. This fight marks not only his UFC debut, but also his first time in a five-round main event for the promotion, against an opponent with extensive experience in five-round fights.
For Hooker, the stakes are just as high, as the New Zealander seeks a crucial win to break a two-fight losing streak and protect his position in the crowded lightweight division.
Career background and UFC arrival
Proud of his Moroccan heritage through his mother’s roots, Parnasse carries strong support from both the French and Moroccan combat sports communities, bringing a global fanbase into his Octagon debut.
He joined KSW in 2017 as a relatively unknown prospect, but left the promotion as one of the most iconic figures in its history.
In their farewell announcement in April 2026, KSW revealed that Parnasse compiled a 14-2 record with the organization while capturing titles in both the featherweight and lightweight divisions.

In his American MMA debut on May 16, Parnasse delivered a one-sided performance against Kenneth Cross at Most Valuable Promotions’ inaugural event in Los Angeles.
The French-Moroccan star controlled the fight from the opening bell before finishing Cross with strikes against the cage in round one.
Improving to 23-2 with the victory, Parnasse paved the final road to his long-anticipated UFC signing. Though financial terms have not been publicly revealed, the promotion made its intentions clear by bypassing a gradual buildup. Instead, they placed him directly into a high-stakes bout that could instantly reshape the lightweight division.
