Tan-Tan – US manufacturer Oshkosh Defense has received a second order for the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces for heavy equipment transport vehicles, expanding Morocco’s ongoing military mobility modernization.
The company announced Monday that the new Direct Commercial Sales order, placed through Optimum Vehicle Logistics, its exclusive distributor in Morocco, includes 50 Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) A1 tractors and 50 MN573 heavy-duty trailers.
The order also covers spare parts, services, and training, according to Oshkosh Defense. The company did not disclose the financial value of the order or a delivery schedule.
The MN573 trailers were designed and manufactured in partnership with Dutch company Broshuis B.V. The HET A1 system is designed to transport heavy military equipment, including main battle tanks, armored vehicles, and recovery vehicles.
Oshkosh said the first tranche of HET A1 tractors from Morocco’s earlier order has already been delivered and is now operational with Moroccan forces.
The company said the additional order will support Morocco’s efforts to modernize its military mobility capabilities, allowing its forces to reposition heavy equipment, support armored formations, and move strategic assets between operational areas.
“Working alongside Optimum Vehicle Logistics, our exclusive distributor in the Kingdom of Morocco, Oshkosh Defense is advancing Morocco’s modernization objectives through the delivery of heavy tactical wheeled vehicles,” Pat Williams, the company’s chief programs officer, said in the announcement.
Previous order
The latest purchase follows Morocco’s first publicly announced Oshkosh HET A1 order in September 2024. At the time, Oshkosh said it had received a direct commercial sales order through Optimum Vehicle Logistics for HET A1 tractors and 635NL trailers for the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces.
The 2024 order was linked to Morocco’s modernization of its M1 Abrams tank fleet, with Oshkosh describing the HET A1 as a platform capable of transporting some of the heaviest military equipment.
The company did not disclose the number of HET A1 tractors involved in the initial 2024 order. The latest announcement confirms that the first tranche of those tractors has since been delivered and entered operational service.
Oshkosh Defense is a subsidiary of Wisconsin-based Oshkosh Corporation and produces military vehicles and mobility systems for the US and international defense markets. The company’s Morocco business is handled through Optimum Vehicle Logistics.
