Rabat – Morocco’s capital Rabat will host the 26th edition of the Lalla Meryem Cup at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam from February 9 to 11.
This year’s edition will see the participation of seven Moroccan females including Ines Laklalech, the first Moroccan and Arab golfer to become a member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and to win the Ladies European Tour (LET).
Her fellow Moroccan professional golfer Maha Haddioui, representative of Morocco at the Olympics and a long-standing member of the LET, will also participate in the competition, according to the organizers press release.

The Moroccan public will meet several participants in the competition including, Malak Bouraeda, the first Moroccan and Arab woman to compete in the US Women’s Open Championship, Intissar Rich, winner of the All Africa Challenge Trophy, and Sofia Cherif Essakali, the youngest player on the field at only 13 years old.

Champion of Morocco 2022 in the Elite category Rim Imni, and Lina Belmati, Champion of Morocco 2022 will also compete alongside the female golfers in the competition.
The tournament will feature 96 players from the Ladies European Tour, including the top five players in the 2022 ranking namely, Swedish professional golfers Linn Grant and Maja Stark, and Spain’s Nuria Iturrioz.

The event is co-organized by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy, and presided by Prince Moulay Rachid.
This year’s tournament at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam marks a historic and significant step in Morocco’s golf and sporting calendar as the event was postponed for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
