Rabat – The First Instance Court in Marrakech handed a sentence of 10 months in prison to a Morrocan policeman for his involvement in the “Hamza mon bb” blackmail case.

The Hamza mon bb case refers to a group of social media network accounts. The case, however, mainly concerns a Snapchat account run by several people who used it to blackmail public figures and celebrities with indecent videos and photos.

Mohamed El Madimi, head of the executive office of the National Center for Human Rights, told Morocco World News that the court sentenced the policeman for leaking information and for undermining the secrecy of the investigation.

“The court sentenced him for leaking information to Aicha Ayach,” El Madimi confirmed to MWN.

The policeman undermined the secrecy of the ongoing investigation by disclosing privileged information, according to the human rights activist.

For El Madimi, the sentence was a “light verdict.” He said that the Public Prosecutor is expected to appeal the verdict.

The policeman will also pay a fine of MAD 2,000 ($208).

Aicha Ayach is a Moroccan Instagram “influencer” who lives in the UAE.

Moroccan police issued an international arrest warrant against Ayach for her alleged direct involvement in the Hamza mon bb case.

El Madimi, a victim of the Hamza mon bb affair,  previously named Ayach as a perpetrator in the case.

The human rights activist is heading a collective lawsuit filed by the national human rights center in Marrakech.

El Mdadimi confirmed that Morocco’s police have issued a warrant against Ayach.

Moroccan law enforcement has so far arrested six suspects in the case, with only one sentenced so far.

Three suspects will appear before the judge on January 23.

Moroccan celebrities Dounia Batma and her sister Ibtissam are also part of the ongoing investigation. Both of the sisters are out of jail on bail. The court will investigate the Batma sisters on February 10.

Dounia and her sister are not allowed to leave Morocco.

El Madimi said that several people, including night club owners are defending the suspects and want the Batma sisters’ names to be removed from the case.

Asked why, El Madimi claimed that “those owners are afraid to be dragged into the case, because obviously they have a hand in the Hamza mon bb affair.”

Dounia, according to El Madimi, also wants Soukain Janah, known as Glamor, to be released from prison.

Soukaina Glamor, who is still in prison as part of the ongoing Hamza mon bb investigation, previously accused Dounia and Ibtissam of involvement in the case.

“They want her out to avoid confrontation in front of the investigation judge,” El Madimi concluded.

He added that several other victims have joined the lawsuit filed against Batma, Ayach, and the other suspects involved in the case.
