Rabat – Bayern Munich Manager Julian Nagelsmann has announced that the transfer of Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui is nearly complete. Nagelsmann told football outlet Goal that the process is on “the home stretch” and that he is excited about the likely free transfer.
The coach of Bundesliga’s top team added that Mazraoui is the “kind of player” he is looking for to strengthen his squad. Bayern Munich, who recently won their tenth consecutive league title, is looking ahead to the 2022-2023 season where Mazraoui could play a prominent role in the club’s quest for a seventh European Champions League title.
Hopes are high for a successful transfer in Bavaria, with the Munich coach indicating he sensed a “hunger” in the Moroccan-Dutch defender. While there are still details to be ironed out, Nagelsmann spoke warmly about his interactions with the young Moroccan star.

“The first conversation was that he was extremely on fire, in terms of form, and that he only wanted to play for Bayern,” the coach told Goal magazine. He added that “the thing was bagged relatively quickly. Those are the kind of players and conversations we need, players who have that hunger and push other players.”
Nagelsmann’s upbeat comments come amid soaring hopes in Morocco around Mazraoui’s return to the national team. With the Atlas Lions’ coach Vahid Halilhodzic appearing to now be open to end his months-long rift with the Dutch-born right-back, Morocco’s squad is set to have two excellent right-backs that play for two of Europe’s biggest clubs.
