Rabat – The National Society of Motorways of Morocco (ADM), Morocco’s national motorway and highway operator, reported a turnover of MAD 3.2 billion at the end of 2021, a 32.5% year-on-year increase.
ADM’s increased turnover in 2021 reflects the underlying post-pandemic recovery as motorway activities are gradually gaining momentum after the 2020-2021 COVID-19 hiatus, according to a press release published on Thursday.
Despite the significant increase in turnover at the end of 2021, motorway traffic in morocco is still below pre-pandemic levels, the ADM statement specifies.
During a board meeting chaired by Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Nizar Baraka, ADM also announced a notable decrease in debt of 4% compared to 2022.
The company’s balance sheet remained largely stable in the course of the past two years, the press release notes.
In the course of the meeting, the board approved a number of plans including the assistance for the construction of the Guercif-Nador highway.
At the end of 2022, Morocco’s national motorway operator forecasts a 2% increase in traffic and a turnover of MAD 3.2 billion ($343 million), according to a February press release.
The company further estimates that membership to its newest “Jawaz” toll-road subscription will reach 1.9 million subscribers at the end of 2022, further consolidating the company’s income.
ADM plans to carry out a number of major maintenance and improvement operations in 2022.
In addition to overseeing the maintenance of 87 kilometers of motorways, ADM is set to invest MAD 1.4 billion ($150 million) to expand the capacities of the Casablanca-Berrechid and Casablanca highways by upgrading them to three-lane highways.
The list of upcoming ADM projects also includes the construction of a new Tit Mellil-Berrechid motorway.
In February, ADM said it will launch a radio station dedicated to Morocco’s motorway users ‘traffic info radio 107.7’.”
The radio station is part of the company’s ambitions to communicate directly with its customer base.
