Dozens Killed in Israeli Bombardment of UNRWA School in Gaza

Rabat – Another Israeli air raid targeting a school affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees (UNRWA) in western Gaza left dozens of Palestinian civilians dead, and others injured on Wednesday.

The UNRWA school housed thousands of displaced people, according to Palestine’s news agency Wafa.

Ambulance crews were unable to reach the injured due to the non-stop artillery shelling in the western area of Gaza City, the report adds.

Israel’s deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure have left behind thousands of civilian casualties over the past month, with children making up a large portion of the victims.

Since October 7, the death toll in Palestine has risen to over 10,000. Israel’s targeting of hospitals and medical convoys has killed at least 175 Palestinian medical personnel, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

On Tuesday, the Palestinian Minister of Health Mai Al-Kaila voiced her concern over the escalating situation in Gaza and its impact on the region’s healthcare services.

Israeli forces are still targeting and demolishing hospitals, endangering the lives of patients, doctors, and evacuees, the minister warned.16 of Gaza’s 35 hospitals are now out of service due to the severe shortage of medical supplies and fuel, or due to Israel’s ceaseless shelling.

On Monday, Israeli airstrikes took down a solar panel system at a building within the al-Shifa Hospital complex, Gaza’s biggest medical facility. 32 ambulances are now out of service due to the air strikes.

Last week, Israeli forces targeted the entrance of the Al Shifa Hospital, bombing several ambulances that were carrying severely wounded individuals meant to be transported to Egypt for medical attention.
