Rabat – Thousands of Moroccans rallied in the streets of the capital Rabat on Sunday morning, calling for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as Israel continues its relentless attacks on civilians in the besieged strip.
Protesters marched on the Mohammed V Avenue in downtown Rabat, holding banners and chanting songs calling on the Moroccan government to cut diplomatic ties with Israel amid the ongoing aggression by Israeli occupation forces.
They held Palestinian flags and wore the Keffiyeh scarf, a traditional scarf that has become a symbol of Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation.

Some even carried white coffins on their shoulders, with the phrase “European Union,” decrying the international community’s inability to intervene to protect civilians.
As Israeli occupation forces continue their bloody war on Palestinian civilians in Gaza Strip, the death toll soared to over 20,500 as of Sunday morning. Meanwhile, 53,688 were injured.
Israel’s war on Palestinian civilians is threatening to throw the strip into famine, UN reports have warned. On Saturday, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sounded the alarm on the dire humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, lamenting that four out of “five of the hungriest people anywhere in the world are in Gaza.”
A recent report from the World Food Programme (WFP) predicted that the Gaza Strip would descend into famine should Israel’s aggression continue.

The report paints a grim picture, revealing that the entire population of Gaza, approximately 2.2 million people, is facing severe levels of acute food insecurity, with a staggering 26% (576,600 people) on the brink of catastrophic hunger and starvation.
It further paints a looming risk of famine within the next six months, with WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain saying that WFP has warned of this coming catastrophe for weeks.
“Tragically, without the safe, consistent access we have been calling for, the situation is desperate, and no one in Gaza is safe from starvation.” she added.
Activists have been decrying Israeli occupation forces’ weaponizing of humanitarian aid in recent weeks.
Reports from inside the Gaza Strip indicate that Israel is actively blocking the flow of humanitarian aid through the Rafah border point which it currently controls.
Previous assessments by WFP had already shed light on the dwindling resources in Gaza, with collapsed livelihoods, destroyed bakeries, empty shops, and families struggling to procure food.
