Rabat – France’s President Emmanuel Macron has spoken out against widespread online rumors claiming that his wife and France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, was born male and is transgender.

In an interview reported by French media, Macron called the claims “false” and “fabricated scenarios.”

“The worst thing is the false information and fabricated scenarios, with people eventually believing them and disturbing you, even in your intimacy,” he said.

Since Marcon took office in 2017, conspiracy theories have regularly spread on social media claiming that Brigitte Macron, born Trogneux, is actually a transgender woman whose birth name was Jean-Michel.

“It is necessary to use the law, justice,” he said. In 2021, Brigitte Macron’s lawyer announced that the first lady would be taking legal action against such rumors.

According to converging reports in the French media, the rumors originated from an article written in a far-right journal by a woman named Natacha Rey.

The allegations picked momentum after being the subject of a viral YouTube broadcast, according to Liberation newspaper.

Brigitte Macron is known to be the biological mother to three children from her first marriage.

“We must use the law, justice,” Macron stressed,” in a recent interview, calling for a strengthening of “digital public order” on social networks.

While acknowledging it is “a formidable place of expression for the craziest,” he maintained that the internet should not still be considered to be “without rules.”
