Marrakech – On the sidelines of the first day of GITEX Africa in Marrakech, Huawei hosted its Network Summit 2024, which  focused on the theme “Accelerate Intelligence for New Africa.” The event highlighted Huawei’s commitment to driving intelligent development across the continent, addressing both emerging challenges and opportunities.

The second half of the summit opened with a video presentation, setting the tone for an evening dedicated to exploring innovative solutions and fostering new value creation. 

Richard Liu, President of the ICT Marketing Solution Sales Department at Huawei, delivered the opening speech titled “Embracing the Great Era of North Africa.” Liu’s address emphasized the region’s potential for growth and the strategic importance of digital transformation.

The keynote session, featuring Colin Hu; President of Enterprise & Cloud Business at Huawei Northern Africa, Mohamed Ben Amor; General Secretary of AICTO, and Mohammed Drissi Melyani; General Director of Morocco ADD, centered on the summit’s overall theme of boosting smart intelligence in Africa. 

The speakers shared their visions for harnessing technology to drive development, highlighting the necessity of robust infrastructure, advanced cloud solutions, and a cohesive ecosystem.

Tariku Demissie, Senior Chief Technical Officer of Ethio Telecom, presented on “Digital Transformation in Ethiopia: Leveraging Connectivity, Cloud, and Fintech.” His talk underscored how these technologies are pivotal in fostering national development and improving connectivity. 

The session on “Digitalization Drives New Value in the Industry” featured Professor Saoussen Krichen; General Manager of Tunisia CCK, and Alex Pierre Meye Ntyam; CTO of Cameroon CNPS. They discussed how digitalization can revolutionize industries, creating new economic value and enhancing efficiency.

In the “Building a Win-Win Ecosystem” session, Jason Ye; VP of Huawei Cloud Northern Africa Region, and Wael ElMonairy; Regional Managing Director, explored strategies for fostering collaborative ecosystems. Their insights emphasized the importance of partnerships and shared growth in achieving sustainable development.

Chris Meng; President of ICT Marketing & Solution Sales at Huawei Northern Africa, delivered the closing speech, encapsulating the day’s discussions and setting a forward-looking agenda for future initiatives. The summit concluded with a gala dinner, providing attendees with an opportunity to network and reflect on the day’s insights.

Huawei’s summit on the sidelines of GITEX Africa’s second edition in Marrakech marks a significant step in advancing digital transformation in Africa. By bringing together technology leaders and regional experts, the event fostered meaningful dialogue and collaboration, paving the way for a more connected and intelligent future for the continent.
