Rabat – Morocco’s Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) has inaugurated the first “Librairie Eyrolles” bookstores in Africa, located on its campuses in both Rabat and Benguerir.
A statement from UM6P said that the opening of the Benguerir store took place on Thursday. The Rabat bookstore was inaugurated on October 23.
“This initiative aligns with UM6P’s mission to promote access to knowledge and enrich the academic and cultural experience of its community,” the statement reads, noting that the openings are part of a tripartite partnership between UM6P, the Eyrolles Group and Schepress.
The Moroccan university emphasized that the establishment of the bookstores complement the UM6P’s vision, with campuses designed to provide a “modern and collaborative” learning environment.
The bookstores offer an extensive selection of books in Arabic, French, and English, covering a range of topics within the humanities, arts, personal development. They also have books with content tailored to the academic programs and specialities of each campus.
Schepress will manage the bookstores, which are also intended to serve as spaces for cultural events, including workshops, literary meetings and more.
“These initiatives aim to transform the bookstores into places of exchange and sharing, further reinforcing UM6P’s role in disseminating knowledge and promoting culture within its community and beyond,” UM6P stated.
