Rabat — Achraf Hakimi has reached a milestone at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), quietly becoming the club’s all-time assist leader after the recent 3-0 Champions League win against Red Bull Salzburg. The Moroccan right-back set up two goals, bringing his total assists for PSG to 24 and matching the record held by club legend Maxwell.
Achraf Hakimi’s rise has been steady and impressive. He started at Real Madrid youth setup and quickly proved himself at Dortmund and Inter Milan. Now at PSG, he’s become one of the French club’s most valuable players.
Luis Enrique, PSG’s manager, sees Hakimi as a complete player. “He’s more well-rounded now, especially in defence,” Enrique recently said of the Moroccan right-back’s evolution. “He’s mature and a great leader for his teammates.”
Meanwhile, Hakimi’s recent performances in Paris have been quite impressive. He was named Le Parisien’s Player of the Month for November and his consistency has seen him play all 13 matches this season as a starter.
PSG extended his contract last November, tying him to the French champions until June 2029. At 26, Hakimi is already one of the most influential players in Ligue 1 and is now a finalist for the African Player of the Year award to be held in Marrakech on December 16.
He also features on the shortlist of the “The Best FIFA Football Awards,” which will assess its contenders based on their performances between August 21, 2023, and August 10, 2024.
