Rabat – Countries across the world are preparing in anticipation of sighting the crescent moon for Shawwal, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan and announcing the Eid Al Fitr date.
Some countries are set to sight the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal on Saturday, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, and several other nations that celebrated the first day of Ramadan on March 1.
Islamic religious committees and astronomers around the world are keeping a watchful eye on the skies to confirm whether the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal is visible or not.
In the countries where it is visible on Saturday, they will celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Sunday. This means that countries like Saudi Arabia would fast for 30 days this Ramadan.
If not, Eid Al Fitr will be on Monday.
Predictions by most Moroccan astronomers suggest Morocco will celebrate this year’s Eid Al Fitr on March 31, as they are anticipating to sight the crescent moon on Sunday.
