Reports: $10 Million Requested for Morocco vs Argentina Friendly

Reports of dialogue between Morocco and Argentina about a friendly match has Argentina supposedly presenting an ask of about $10 million.

Rabat – There are reports of dialogue between the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) as they work out the details of the highly anticipated fixture.

In the latest developments Argentina have supposedly presented a demand of about $10 million for the match, plus assistance with logistics like accommodation, travel, and broadcasting expenses. This figure is reportedly a huge increase from previous demands, which comes to show the growing commercial value of international football friendlies.

The FRMF supposedly rejected this initial request straight away, but returned soon after with an updated proposal to keep the discussion moving forward.

Negotiations taking place

Neither the FRMF nor the AFA have confirmed these conversations going on behind the scenes, but insiders say we shouldn’t have to wait much longer for Argentina’s take on Morocco’s counter-proposal. Meanwhile, fans on both sides are on the edge of their seats waiting for some sort of announcement.

For Morocco, the chance to host Lionel Messi and the defending world champs would be a real showstopper — a sporting and media event that would elevate the country’s already high standing in the world of football.

And for Argentina, a match in Morocco would serve as a great pre-season warm-up.

It all hangs in the balance at the moment, with three potential outcomes on the cards. If the two sides can agree on a financial deal, the match will be greenlit. If talks drag on, it might be put back until a deal can be struck. But if neither side gives in, the whole thing might just fall apart, and that would be a real shame for all football fans.
