Rabat – The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts a heatwave, with temperatures up to 47 degrees Celsius in several provinces across Morocco.
A new weather alert said temperatures ranging between 44 and 47 degrees are expected from Thursday to Saturday in Taroudant, Zagora, Tata, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Boujdour, and Oued-Edddahab.
The weather alert forecasts temperatures between 42 and 44 degrees in the provinces of Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, and El Kelaa Sraghna. In comparison, Essouira is expected to record temperatures between 39 and 42 degrees on Thursday.
Morocco will also experience thunderstorms producing 20 to 35 millimeters of rainfall, accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts in the provinces and prefectures of Aousserd, Jerada, Boulemane, Midelt, Azilal and Beni Mellal.
Ifrane and Oued Ed-Dahab, Figuig, Al Haouz, Tinghir, and Ouarzazate will expect the same weather from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday.
Morocco has been hit by successive heatwaves in recent weeks, with temperatures rising sharply across several regions.
Citizens are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and limit outdoor activities during peak hours.
