Agadir – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and the Senegalese religious city of Touba have renewed their partnership to facilitate travel for members of the Mouride Muslim brotherhood, particularly during major religious gatherings such as the Grand Magal of Touba.
The city’s mayor, Abdou Lahad Kâ, and RAM Commercial Director Ilham Kazzini signed the agreement in Touba, central Senegal, on Thursday. The airline’s Commercial Director for Africa, Noura Daoudi, and its Regional Director in Senegal, Mounim Elkababi, also attended the ceremony.
The renewed agreement aims to address the travel needs of Mouride followers, especially members of the Senegalese diaspora who return to the country to attend religious celebrations in Touba.
Kazzini said RAM’s partnership with the Mouride brotherhood reflects the close relationship the airline has built with its religious leaders and followers in Senegal and abroad.
She also pointed to the airline’s international network as a means of connecting Senegalese communities living overseas with their home country, particularly during major religious occasions.

The agreement comes ahead of the next Grand Magal of Touba, one of Senegal’s largest annual religious gatherings. The event draws worshippers from across Senegal and from the Senegalese diaspora, creating significant travel demand.
Touba serves as the spiritual center of the Mouride brotherhood, one of Senegal’s most influential Sufi Muslim communities. The Grand Magal commemorates the exile of the brotherhood’s founder, Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba, and attracts large numbers of pilgrims each year.
The partnership comes as RAM pursues a broader fleet expansion and modernization strategy to strengthen its passenger network and improve the travel experience.
On October 7, the airline announced plans to equip 41 aircraft with Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi starting in early 2027. The service will provide free internet access to members of its Safar Flyer loyalty program, allowing passengers to communicate, work, and stream content during flights.
The carrier is also upgrading its long-haul fleet. In the same month, RAM and Boeing signed an agreement to renovate the cabins of seven Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. The refurbishment will include new-generation seats and upgraded in-flight entertainment systems.
