Doha – Adil Hala was officially elected as president of Raja Casablanca for a four-year term during the club’s elective general assembly held on Thursday evening. The club’s new president succeeds Mohamed Boudrika, who had left the club earlier this year amid legal troubles.

Hala, who had been serving as the interim president, was elected unanimously by the 89 members present at the assembly out of a total of 149. The meeting, which lasted four hours, also saw the approval of the moral and financial reports.

As the elected president, Hala is tasked with continuing the initiatives started under his provisional leadership. Among his priorities is lifting the restrictions on player recruitment to strengthen the team, which is currently engaged on multiple fronts.

The reigning champions of Morocco, Raja Casablanca have had a challenging start to their Botola season, suffering a defeat against Renaissance Berkane. The team is set to face Ittihad Tanger on September 25 in Tetouan.

Despite its early struggles in the national league, the club has secured its ticket to the second preliminary round of the African Champions League after eliminating the Association Sportive de la Garde Nationale du Niger (ASGNN).

Hala’s election comes in the wake of the controversial departure of former president Mohamed Boudrika, who left Morocco in early 2024 citing health reasons.

Boudrika was later arrested in Germany in July on the basis of an international arrest warrant.

In March, a court in Casablanca had sentenced him to one year in prison for issuing a bounced check.

With Adil Hala at the helm, Raja Casablanca aims to navigate through these challenging times and maintain its position as one of the leading football clubs in Morocco and Africa.
