Rabat – Rabat was the destination of a panel discussion on February 17 to discuss data archival and management on a national scale.

Held under the theme “Archiving is a catalyst for data management in a national Cloud,” the panel sought to highlight the importance of data archiving and preservation, with the participation of Huawei and Epson, two significant actors in the field.

Data archival is central to Morocco’s digital ambitions.

Experts from several other institutions also took part to share their knowledge and raise awareness about the importance of digitization, the digital archiving of documents, and data management in a world where a large flow of information is produced daily.

“Data is now the core of the digital economy and digital transformation, creating value for the entire national ecosystem,” stated Chakib Achour, Chief Strategy Officer of Huawei Morocco.

The panel discussion was part of Huawei’s efforts to continue investing in Morocco’s digital infrastructure, and especially the country’s cloud computing projects, according to a press release.

“Once generated and processed in a smart platform, this data will be able to give rise to applications capable of meeting the needs of the public and private sector, but also to improve the daily lives of citizens,” Achour added

Huawei and Epson are seeking to unite the expertise of each other to produce a system capable of protecting data from any fraudulent acts for the benefit of public and private enterprises.

Huawei provides cloud storage solutions as part of its diverse tech offerings, while Epson offers data generation tools.

Not only does digital archiving render material documents immaterial, but it also frees up physical space, and reduces the cost of storage, making it a necessity for any businesses or government agencies with big amounts of data to process.

Data organization and storage, and especially cloud technologies, are expected to be essential to Morocco achieving its digital transformation hopes, especially as the amount of data that different institutions have to deal with continues growing.
