Moroccan and Ajax Amsterdam right-back Noussair Mazraoui is still garnering interest from European clubs, with the latest news suggesting that Spain’s FC Barcelona is interested in signing the 24-years-old.
Mazraoui has recently said that he does not intend to renew his contract with Ajax Amsterdam.
And with the right-back’s contract with the Dutch club set to expire on June 30, there have been reports of a meeting between Mazraoui’s agent, Mino Raiola, and Barcelona’s President, Joan Laporta, to discuss a potential transfer of the Moroccan to the Catalan club.
Mazraoui’s potential transfer to Barcelona is closely linked to 21-year-old Erling Braut Haaland’s expected move to the Spanish club, according to Catalan outlet Sport.
Both Mazraoui and the Norwegian forward have the same agent, Mino Raiola, who reportedly would have devised a three-way scheme to cheapen the signing of the Scandinavian “killer” (Haaland) by Joan Laporta’s club, Sport reported.
According to reports, Laporta is willing to go to any length to sign Erling Braut Haaland and is willing to sign Mazraoui next summer as an incentive for securing important deals with Mino Raiola.
The idea is that signing Mazraoui at the end of his contract with Ajax may please his Italian agent, Raiola, and hopefully “convince” him to negotiate future deals with Barcelona, including the transfer of Haaland.
Mazraoui has spent his whole career at Ajax, scoring nine goals and giving eight assists in 123 appearances across all competitions, including an astonishing 26 games and five goals this season.

As his contract with the Amsterdam club comes to an end next July, the Moroccan right-back is said to be in search of a new challenge with a new club.
Morocco’s Bosnian coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, has kept Mazraoui out of the national squad since November 13, 2020, following a match that saw Morocco win over the Central African Republic in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Following a disagreement between the Bosnian coach and the Ajax right-back during a meeting last year, Halilhodzic said that the 24-year-old player is no longer in his plans.
Morocco‘s team prepares for the much-anticipated FIFA World Cup playoffs against the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mazraoui’s participation is highly demanded by fans. The Ajax right-back has recently said he was over rift with Halilhodzic and is ready to play for the Moroccan national team.
But it is yet to be seen whether Moroccan football fans’ recent calls for the return of the impressively in-form Mazraoui to the national team will help change Halilhodzic’s mind.
