Rabat – On November 14, the Office des Changes and the Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM) formalized their collaboration with the signing of a new partnership agreement at CGEM’s headquarters in Casablanca.
According to a joint press release, the agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two entities in key areas, including data sharing, foreign exchange regulation, and capacity-building initiatives.
The partnership sets up a structured framework for ongoing dialogue and joint action, focusing on improving the efficiency of foreign exchange operations in Morocco.
The agreement also covers the exchange of expertise and experiences, as well as providing training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills within both organizations.
By easing certain foreign exchange procedures, the Office des Changes and CGEM are working together to support Morocco’s broader development goals.
This new collaboration is seen as an important step towards ensuring the effectiveness and sustainability of their relationship, which will ultimately help foster a more competitive business environment in Morocco.
The partnership is expected to contribute to the country’s economic growth, particularly by providing businesses with a more predictable and supportive regulatory landscape.
The Office des Changes, a key institution in Morocco’s foreign exchange policy, has evolved significantly since its founding in 1944. It has gradually shifted from restrictive regulations to a more liberalized approach, designed to meet the real needs of the country’s economic actors.
CGEM, founded in 1947, represents the private sector in Morocco, advocating for a favorable business environment and playing a crucial role in discussions with public authorities.
The organization, which claims to represent over 90,000 business leaders, is particularly focused on supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), although its voting system gives considerable influence to larger companies.
