Agadir – Jordan has expressed its full solidarity with Morocco following the dismantling of an alleged ISIS-linked terrorist cell accused of planning coordinated attacks across several Moroccan cities.

In a statement issued today, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the terrorist plots that targeted public order, the safety of individuals, and property in Morocco, describing it as “an unacceptable attempt to undermine Morocco’s security, sovereignty, and stability.”

The statement came hours after Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) announced that it had foiled several advanced terrorist plots and arrested 10 suspected ISIS-affiliated extremists during coordinated operations in Agadir, Taroudant, Casablanca, El Hajeb, Tetouan, Fquih Ben Salah, and Safi.

According to Moroccan authorities, the suspects were allegedly receiving operational guidance and logistical support from ISIS operatives based in the Sahel. Investigators seized weapons, military-style uniforms, extremist documents, digital devices, and materials believed to have been intended for use in terrorist attacks.

Authorities also uncovered a modified vehicle and explosive-making components that investigators said were destined for use in attacks against sensitive targets.

Commenting on the developments, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s efforts to safeguard national security.

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufyan Qudah said Jordan stands in “unwavering solidarity with the Kingdom of Morocco” and supports “all measures taken to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as ensure the safety of its citizens.”

Qudah also reiterated Jordan’s “firm rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at destabilizing security and stability.”

Moroccan authorities have placed the adult suspects in police custody while a minor suspect remains under judicial supervision. Investigations are continuing to determine the extent of the group’s alleged links to ISIS’s African branch in the Sahel and identify any national or international connections to the network.
