Casablanca – King Mohammed VI inaugurated a Proximity Medical Center (CMP) in the new town of Errahma on Monday, for an overall investment of MAD 73 million ($7.1 million).

The sovereign visited multiple components of the project which “shows his commitment to improve medical services for the benefit of citizens, to consolidate healthcare for populations in vulnerable situations and to ensure a comprehensive, sustainable and integrated human development.”

The implementation of the center also comes in line with the King’s efforts to promote access to basic and quality healthcare for the underprivileged, and to ensure regular medical follow-ups for people whose condition requires specialized consultations.

Providing 24/7 care, the new CMP, which will benefit nearly 60,000 people per year, will alleviate pressure on existing facilities in the region, as well as avoid long trips for poor patients that weigh heavily on their budgets.

The CMP will serve a population of more than 300,000 inhabitants of the new town of Errahma and the surrounding areas.

The new center includes a medical emergencies pole with emergency doctors who will particularly oversee functions in the shock treatment, examination, care, observation and plaster rooms.

It also includes a specialized medical consultation unit for cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, pediatrics, gynecology, and ophthalmology, as well as orthopedics and functional rehabilitation units.

Additionally, it has a medico-technical pole with operating rooms, one of which is dedicated to obstetric surgery, as well as a recovery room.

The new Errahma CMP also houses a mother-child health center with  four delivery rooms and a room for the care of newborns, as well as examination, care, vaccination, and ultrasound rooms.

Equipped with latest equipment, the Center also houses an oral care unit, a medical imaging unit, a medical analysis laboratory, hospitalization and sterilization units, a pharmacy, an awareness room, a kitchen and a morgue.

The new hospital also has an ambulance to ensure the medical transport of patients.

Like those inaugurated by the King in the El Youssoufia district in Rabat and Sidi Moumen in Casablanca, and those in Temara and Tangier which will be operational in 2022, the new Errahma CMP is part of a comprehensive program conducted by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity aimed at supporting the national medical sector.

The program focuses on strengthening the existing health care offer, setting up a local health care network accessible to the population, as well as integrating a complementary social approach into patient support mechanisms.

The project is set to eventually lead to the creation of twelve local medical centers, including three in Casablanca (Sidi Moumen, Errahma, and Hay Hassani), two in Fez, two in Tangier, and one in each of Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat, Sale and Temara.

The initiative is the result of a partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, and the Provincial Council of Nouaceur.

Reinforcing the various actions carried out by the Foundation in the medical and humanitarian fields, it also demonstrates its multi-faceted and diversified commitment to the well-being and prosperity of the less privileged.
